This coming weekend is the August bank holiday. Some of our services are impacted by bank holidays, most are not. Take a look below to see which are affected.
Bank holiday trivia
Did you know that bank holidays and village cricket have an intriguing connection? Back in 1871 a chap called Sir John Lubbock authored the Bank Holidays Act. Rumour has it that Sir Lubbock picked the days the holidays would occur on based on when his local village cricket team was playing. Turns out Sir Lubbock didn’t just like cricket, he loved it!
Waste collections will run as normal
Your kerbside waste collection is unaffected by the bank holidays and will continue as normal. You can check when your normal collection day is, and what bin/s you need to put out, by visiting our website.

Tidy tips are open. They may be busy
Our local tidy tips are open over the bank holidays at their usual times (9am to 5pm). We do expect them to be busier than normal due to the bank holiday, you should expect some queuing
