GCSE Results are in…and reveal to be up on pre-pandemic figures

Good news for students across Central Bedfordshire
For a second time this month, Central Bedfordshire’s exam results have shown to be up on pre-pandemic figures. Today’s provisional GCSE figures show an increase in overall Attainment 8 scores across Central Bedfordshire compared to 2019.
This is the first year that students have sat formal exams since the start of the pandemic year.
Headline information on DfE’s provisional Key Stage 4 data for Central Bedfordshire shows:
Attainment 8
• Overall Attainment 8 Score: 46.7. 1.9 points increase from 2019 (44.8)
• English Element Attainment 8 Score: 10.1. 0.6 points increase from 2019 (9.5)
• Mathematics Element Attainment 8 Score: 9.3. 0.2 points increase from 2019 (9.1)
• English Baccalaureate Attainment 8 Score: 13.3. 0.5 points increase from 2019 (12.8)
• Open Element Attainment 8 Score: 13.5. 0.1 points increase from 2019 (13.4)
Basic Measure
• Percentage achieving “standard pass” in English and Mathematics (Grade 4 or above): 69%. 5 percentage point increase from 2019 (64%)
• Percentage achieving “strong pass” in English and Mathematics (Grade 5 or above): 46%. 5 percentage point increase from 2019 (41%)
• Average English Baccalaureate point score: 5.0. 1.2 point increase from 2019 (3.8)
