Sandy Town Council Precept 2023/24
Date Added: 15/02/2023
Sandy Town Council has set the budget and precept for the year ending 31 March 2024 at a Full Council meeting on Monday 23rd January 2023. The budget and precept were both unanimously voted through by those Members in attendance.
The agreed 2023/24 budget will result in an increase of £1.67 a year, or 3.2 pence a week for the average Band D taxpayer in Sandy. Residents will pay £156.53 in 2023-24 for all the services Sandy Town Council provides.
The increase in budget of £5,339 (0.85%) was slightly elevated by the fact that the tax base for Sandy has decreased by 0.22% pushing the overall increase in precept up to 1.08%.
All aspects of the Council’s budget were scrutinised and evaluated to reduce costs and make efficiency savings where possible while ensuring that its core functions are adequately resourced. The Council was able to keep the increase low by reducing the allocation to the Rolling Capital Fund by £28,174. Where costs have increased this is to take into account rising costs for materials and services.
The Town Council recognises the importance of providing a best value service and keeping costs down, as such service providers and contracts are continually reviewed to ensure best value and the Council actively applies for additional support funding wherever possible to help alleviate the burden on the Precept.
